In these stressful times of the corona virus pandemic, several humorous parodies have been created of the Dexys Midnight Runners’ famous “Come on Eileen” song.
Sam Chaplin, a musician and Youtuber, created this comedic video of Come on Eileen, using funny props as well to emphasize the lyrics:
Similarly, the Taylor family created a Come on Eileen parody song for all families “goin’ crazy” in lockdown:

This “husband-and-wife duo” likewise formed a very realistic depiction of how living in self-quarantine is like through their hilarious lyrics: “If you wanna cough, please bugger off”.
It’s not surprising that so many artists have altered the lyrics of this famous song, as according to virologist, and lead singer of the Dexys, “Dr Kevin McRowland”:
“Studies have found that singing ‘Covid19’ to the tune of Dexys Midnight Runners hit song ‘Come On Eileen’ will reduce stress and make the virus seem less intimidating.”
